Second Life Gets First Life Outing

Paul Sermon This evening I took part in a fabulous event in the centre of Manchester, in the All Saints Park in Oxford Road. The event was created by Prof Paul Sermon, of the Creative Technology group in the Art and Design department at Salford University, with whom I am now collaborating across Faculty divides, as part of the new Digital Cluster which he heads, and as his co-lead in the eCulture third of a large EU inter-regional project for which we are, with European partners, currently bidding for funding. Alan Hook provided technical support. I went along with my MacBook Pro, plugged in and enjoyed myself!

. Here are some pictures of the event.

The outdoor screen in the park. This at various times showed the park, live on camera, the space in Second Life, created by Paul, that reproduces the park, and the two mapped onto one another so that both live people and avatars cohabited the space.
