Rimbaud

Well it passes a quiet hour at home at the end of a long week. Here is my favourite poem. Indeed, this is my favourite poem, by my favourite poet - the young boyfriend of Paul Verlaine, another mid19th century French poet. They were both hounded by French society of the time, once their relationship became very public through some rather more baudy poems than this one.

I ran away in 1985, at the age of 21, and arrived in Boulogne with 34p in my pocket, and spent 5 months begging and hitching around Europe, with one book in my rucksack - the poems of Arthur Rimbaud.

Second Life Gets First Life Outing

Paul Sermon This evening I took part in a fabulous event in the centre of Manchester, in the All Saints Park in Oxford Road. The event was created by Prof Paul Sermon, of the Creative Technology group in the Art and Design department at Salford University, with whom I am now collaborating across Faculty divides, as part of the new Digital Cluster which he heads, and as his co-lead in the eCulture third of a large EU inter-regional project for which we are, with European partners, currently bidding for funding. Alan Hook provided technical support. I went along with my MacBook Pro, plugged in and enjoyed myself!
